Sharing my top 3 holistic skincare tips and a little bit about my skincare history. (Spoiler alert: it’s not pretty, but the ending is good!)! It’s easy to hear about someone else’s story and think, “good for you. But that’s not me” and in some ways you’re correct. We all have different stories. But, the one thing that is consistent for everyone is that the process from frustration or pain to breakthrough, starts with one small change and a little bit of curiosity. I hope you find at least one thing in this post that does just that!
1. START WITH YOUR SKINCARE:
I’ve struggled with acne since I was a teenager. I spent years bouncing between complicated routines, expensive products (costing $200+), and pharmaceuticals. (Using retin-a and accutane). Both have harmful side effects that left me with damaged skin and a daily makeup routine that included layers of concealer and foundation. That’s when I started treating my skin as an important part of my overall health and began looking into natural options. What I discovered several years ago and have now formulated to share with you, healed, brightened, and brought my skin back to life… read specific details above and shop here: GLOW & TONER SET, GLOW SERUM, TONER
Hoping to add a foaming face wash and detox mask, very soon!
2. EAT SKIN FRIENDLY FOOD:
Have you heard the saying, “you can’t out-exercise a bad diet”? Welp, you can’t out-skincare a bad diet, either. Our skin is a reflection of what’s going on inside our bodies. (God’s creation is so good like that!). While there are several things that can cause skin inflammation. Like gut health, hormone imbalance, food sensitivity, etc., there is also a long list of foods that can help heal and balance those systems while increasing the vitamins and minerals you need for healthy skin. Above are a few of my favorites!
3. ADD EXERCISE & SUNSHINE:
While I would never endorse excessive or unwise exposure to the sun or an unattainable workout routine. Our bodies were created to move and be in nature and when we neglect this part of our biology, we miss out on all the amazing benefits (listed above). One last thing I would add is that vitamin A helps your body produce more melanin which protects you from sun damage and skin cancer, woot!
It never ceases to amaze me what good nutrition can do for our overall health!
One quick story before I go… A couple months ago while preparing for the launch of our skincare line, I had a mini freak out fueled by a bout of self-doubt that lead me to drop a bunch of money on a trendy line of products. In my heart of hearts (I truly care about you so much and value your time and money), the last thing I wanted to do was mislead you if there was something better out there. I fully expected that would be the case, but after 6 weeks of consistent use of my fancy new products I was left (again) with breakouts and bumpy textured skin that required makeup to cover. All that to say, after 4+ years of loyal use and a failed 6 week trial of the latest (most trendy) products out there, I can confidently say that our face toner and glow serum are pure magic. They also happen to be (by no coincidence) beautifully simple, toxin free, and affordable. I would love for you to try them either in a 1 oz sample size or 4 oz signature size.
