Whether you’re working from home, homeschooling, distance learning, or managing homework after hours, it’s always nice to have a little help keeping the papers and supplies, organized and easy to find. Yes? Yes! A couple weeks before the school year started, I ordered these cute little caddies so the kids would be able move their essentials from the dining room table to the couch to the bed and I would have a place to put all the books, pencils, and notes that would inevitably get scattered around the house.
“Go check your caddy!” is my favorite thing to say these days, lol.
Anyways, the caddies are super roomy and would work as a mobile classroom or homework station for multiple kids, too! Since mine are currently sharing just about everything in their life (their room, closet, dresser, me as their teacher, etc.) I figured individual caddies would be a nice way for them to gain some personal space and autonomy and required a lot less room and money than purchasing everyone a desk.
To make it easier to find their caddy out of the line up of bins on the bottom shelf in our dining room, we decided to make clay tags and pom-poms to personalize things a bit!
Shared the very simple process, a few pics, and links below!
We’ve been happy with this laptop for the kids, if you’re in the market!
We started with this air-dry clay – rolled it out to 1/4″ and then used biscuit cutters to make the shape and a skewer to poke a hole at the top. After letting the clay dry for a couple days (could speed this step up by placing in an oven at a low temp), we got out the paints and started decorating!
To keep things simple (and from looking like mud) I limited the paint selection to 5 colors, plus white and black. (My controlling side tends to come out a bit anytime there are paints involved, lol.)
Added a few pom-poms using yarn (love this set) and these makers!
I highly recommend a giant white board for school, chores, and schedules!
Another homeschool must-have… rollers to support our emotions (among other things). So much of the feelings that start bubbling over (I blame math, lol) are meant to process and then make a choice. While the science definitely backs up the use of essential oils for our mind and bodies I think one of the added benefits is giving kids (and adults) the opportunity to pay attention to our bodies and emotions and then the tools to do something about it! Not to sound cheesy, but how empowering!
They also pair so well with affirmations, movement, and self reflections — all of which are good habits for all of us!
Let me know if you have any questions!
