Last fall I received an email asking if I would be willing to style a couple kid-friendly home decor spaces for a Design Mom (Gabrielle Blair) book on living with kids. Of course I said yes and then immediately called my favorite person to work with, Stacy, to snap pictures.
Today we’re celebrating our work in print with a giveaway! (keep reading for all the details)
One of my favorite things in the world is to see the people in my life (either real life or online), do awesome things and that is exactly what this book is, awesome. It’s full of useful inspiration and tips and I’m over the moon to have been a tiny part of it.
I first got in touch with Gabby a couple years ago when I shared a living with kids feature of our old house on her blog ( you can see it here) but met her in person for the first time last weekend at her book event in Seattle. It’s always kinda a funny thing to meet people you only know through social media and web sites in person but she was so sweet and cute. Not that I expected anything else.

We’re moving into a new house in two weeks, so EVERY room could use an upgrade! ;) I’m most excited about designing new rooms for my 2-year-old and 5-month-old though.
I love this giveaway! I’ve had my eye on this book. My baby girl’s room definitely needs some lovin’. Her room is a guest room/play room/where we store our winter sweaters room. Yikes! Needing help on that. : )
My boys have shared a room for years and now that they are 10 and 13, it needs to be brought up to speed with their growing needs!

We are moving over the summer, so, when that happens, all rooms will need an upgrade, but, for now, our living room desperately needs help. We just kind of forget about decorating and have it let it look like a dorm room for way too long…

I would love to have our bonus room be more kid-friendly and inviting. I feel like most of our rooms are too adult-like and it could definitely be more kid fun!

Yay! With another kid on the way, our basement family room could use a facelift. Something light, bright and inviting :]
You would probably think they all need it, but I would say our 2 year old son’s very bare room or the living room/play room (toys everywhere) Walking into the house, you would think it’s a daycare. I always said I wouldn’t be one of those Moms. ha!
My son’s room desperately needs some creative ideas to utilize every vertical and horizontal inch of it’s compact space. :0) *sigh*
We are going to be moving in the next month and a half and that means our month old daughter’s room hasn’t exactly been a focus at our current place. So, her room is first on the list!
We just moved into our new house a couple months ago, and now that we’re settled I’m ready to really make my mark on it. My kitchen is pretty builder-basic, and could you some personalization for sure!
Our playroom is transitioning to a school room since we started homeschooling. I have the main furniture like vintage school desks and bookcases but it definitely needs a design upgrade. I think making it more pleasing to the eye would inspire all of us…at least that’s what I’m hoping=)
Our girls’ bathroom is in dire need of love. It is pretty basic with some major subfloor damage that is only making things worse for their adjacent bedrooms.
That book looks awesome! The bedroom could definitely use some design help! There is one large wall that is just overwhelming and I don’t know what to put on it!

My girls rooms could use an upgrade. We have 4 girls from the foster system. Their spaces were pretty bare when they came. Now that I see their personalities and who they are becoming I really would love them each to have rooms that fit them.
Oh! I can’t wait to see the book!!! I’m moving as soon as we find a house, so it’s hard to say which room will need the most help. I hate my great room furniture and rug though, so we’ll go with that. I have two young kids, and the room looks so granny!
My office could use an upgrade
I love an upgrade in our living room. It just needs to be more functional!
I think our master bedroom need some help. It has some cute things but just hasn’t come together all the way.
I am decluttering like crazy. So some great ideas of how to make each room functional without all the clutter would be so helpful!
I am saving our pennies so that I can update our back porch and bring the living room out. Some things that are on my radar: an outdoor rug from World Market, Target Threshold outdoor furniture, and some DIY shelving and potting station. Oh, and did I mention string lights? Lots of string lights.
The play room! Our house has an open layout and the toys never ever stay in one room, and seeing the detritus from the living room makes me grumpy.

My thirteen and fourteen year old boys share one small room that definitely needs a redesign! We are trying to figure out how to create more living space. I could really use some efficient ideas!!
With three growing kids, we are desperately in need of re-vamping our “family-catch-all -room.” It’s the messiest jumble in the house & it happens to be where we spend all of our time playing, singing, watching, crafting, home-working, entertaining, etc, etc. Would love to win & be inspired!
We’re chasing our dreams by selling our home and moving into a rental in just a few weeks. The space is lovely…except for the blah kitchen with blah linoleum. I can’t wait to get creative with fun knobs and some stained plywood overlay flooring to make this temporary space more “us” in a budget and renter friendly way! Congrats on being featured in this book, btw!
My little boy (7 months) is crawling up a storm! Now that he’s mobile, it seems like the whole house has become his playground! I’d love for our living room to get a design upgrade–both aesthetically and functionally (Ahhh! So many toys! And no pretty baskets to hide them in!).

My boyfriend and I just recently moved into a new place together. It’s been so fun, but we definitely need design help! I think our living room needs the most help. It’s a small space and barely decorated. It also needs some organization solutions, for stuff like blankets and books. I want it to be relaxing, but functional and pretty!

Our living room really could use some help. It’s used for home school and meals, but we are not sure how to make both those work in one space.
I could really use some help with 3 boys in one room, one being a crib. It’s so hard to figure out how to keep little boy toys and big kid stuff all together.
