DAILY LOOKS: SUMMER OOTD 15, FAVORITE ATHLETIC WEAR

Aug 16, 2022daily looks, style + outfits

The perfect working around the house, running errands, walking with a friend, playing at the park, or carpooling the kids kinda outfit. Add a full tuck for a little more structure and an oversized tote to carry all the things and add a bit of whimsy.

Raise your hand if you think the athliesure trend is the best thing to happen to motherhood?! (MEEEEE!!!) Linked everything and lots of options below!

Wearing a 6 in the shorts and small in the tee. Sneakers are the Air Force 1 “by you” custom option and a great way to get around waiting for dunks or Jordans while still getting the colors and look you want! Also been loving the Adidas, too. All linked above!

And PSA (!!!) just discovered a new (to me) active wear line called Adanola and it’s so, so good and about half the price of Lulu gear. Leggings are $58 and amazing quality. For reference (if you’re curious) I ordered medium in their bike shorts and this tank bra (so good and fit great) and medium in sweatshorts and sweatshirt (will prob do a small next time). Linked some of their shorts above and will be sharing more about their stuff soon. In the meantime, let me know if you have questions!

The key to feeling cute instead of frumpy in athliesure (imo!) is making it look like you got dressed on purpose instead of like you just rolled out of bed. Which I am certainly not above and do more often than I like to admit (just ask my friends and neighbors… lucky them, lol). However, just like most things in life, a little intention and effort goes a long way in setting the tone and momentum for our day! Do you agree?

A few intentional styling tips for athletic wear: try a monochromatic look (elevated everything), play around with how your shirt is tucked, drape a sweatshirt over your shoulders or at a diagonal, add accessories (hat, cute bag, socks, jewelry), layer with a more structured top or jacket (denim or button down shirt), do your hair and/or makeup!

What would you add!?

xx, Rae

P.S. – Photos by my crazy talented sister in law, Alex who has been taking most of my summer outfit pics and is the absolute best to work with… check here out if you’re in the area and in need of family photos for the fall and Christmas season!

Perfection is overrated unless your talking about Perfection is overrated unless your talking about waffles 🧇 and you know we take waffles seriously around here since we named our dog after them! Recipe is below to save for later or you can comment WAFFLES and I’ll send the recipe straight to your DMs!

CRISP & FLUFFY HOMEMADE WAFFLE RECIPE

YOU’LL NEED:
2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
2 eggs (divide egg and yoke)
1-2/3 cup whole milk
1/3 cup butter, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
TOPPING IDEAS: butter, maple syrup, whipped cream, *sprinkles, peanut butter, jam, *cacao nibs, chocolate chips, powdered sugar, berries, bananas, cinnamon, sliced peaches, fried or scrambled egg, etc.

HERE’S HOW:
Preheat your waffle iron and melt butter over low, if using stovetop.
In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, baking powder, and sugar. Whisk together.
Divide the egg yolk and whites into two separate medium sized bowls.
Add the milk, butter, and vanilla extract to the yolk bowl and mix to combine.
With a hand or stand mixer, beat the egg whites on medium-high until stiff peaks form. Should only take a couple minutes and makes the waffles so fluffy!
Pour yolk and milk mixture into the dry ingredients and stir or whisk until combined, being careful not to over-mix. Add the egg whites and fold them into the batter gently.
Heat oven to 250-275 degrees to keep cooked waffles warm and crisp. Lightly grease waffle iron (I like to brush on a little butter). Use a measuring cup to pour batter onto waffle iron, until wells are almost covered. Close the iron and cook for about 4 minutes or until golden brown. (Tip: This is a great time to prep toppings or tidy up the kitchen. If you’re like me though, be sure to set a timer!)
Place cooked waffles in a single layer, directly on rack in oven. When ready, top and serve!
