Happy Tuesday friends! So thankful for the long 4th of July weekend and time with family and friends. A few pics from our day at my parent’s house celebrating with yard games, water play (despite the cold pacific northwest weather!) and good company. Gosh I love this holiday!
The day started with community festivities. A fishing derby, hay dig, sack and three legged races and egg and balloon tosses. Poor Griffin took awhile to wake up so the two of us stuck together and mostly watched the organized chaos.
The rest of the kids ended up with lots of loot :)
Cotton candy is a 4th of July staple and the only way we get the kids to sit long enough to eat lunch. It was Poppy’s first experience with the sugar fluff and it took her awhile to dig in but then there was no turning back!
Red, white, blue and friends!
So impressed with the kids and dads who played in the water and wish I had grabbed the big camera more to capture the action. The moms weren’t so brave but instead highly entertained and able to grab dry towels and snuggle with the crazy ones.
Love this pic below of a messy beach…
I always dread the morning after a holiday when life goes back to normal but I do love how the business from the day before makes it easy to lay-low. Tired kids are easy to entertain :) Today calls for helping my parents tidy up, heading home, tubbies for everyone, something easy for dinner (maybe grilled cheese) and then probably a family movie night before going to bed.
Hope you all had an amazing 4th with family and friends!
