Want to know the best recipe for those days when you have a never ending to do list, but could also use a mom win? Enter, FAIRY BREAD! Also known as Hagelslag or Dutch sprinkle bread (take me to Holland ASAP, please). No actual recipe required, only 3 ingredients, and if you make them on a rimmed cookie sheet or tray, there isn’t much clean up either! A few tips and “how to” below!
FAIRY BREAD, DUTCH SPRINKLE BREAD, HAGELSLAG
You’ll Need:
- sliced bread
- sprinkles (purchased this bag for all our sprinkle needs)
- butter, slightly softened (so it’s easy to spread)
- cookie cutters (optional)
TO MAKE: Butter bread, cutout with cookie cutters (if using), sprinkle with sprinkles! That’s it! Another option is to use a cookie cutter on a plain piece of bread and top your sprinkle bread with it (see below).
To make matters even better (or worse depending on your POV), these little breads that were obviously invented by a 4 year old or a mom that didn’t have all the ingredients for a birthday cake, are actually really delicious. Like, I don’t usually enjoy desserts that don’t involve chocolate, but ate an embarrassing amount of stars. Plus, we left some out for the Tooth Fairy and I’ll let you guess who ate those.
See that missing top tooth!? The best!
