When we discovered that it was possible to DIY bath bombs, we ditched the expensive boutique ones, and the cheap toxin filled ones, and got busy accumulating the few things required to make them at home. The recipe is simple, fun to do with kids, and easy to customize depending on the season or the person using them. Plus bath bombs make bath time more fun, even for adults! Here’s how to make your own…
HOMEMADE BATH BOMBS RECIPE
You’ll Need:
- 1 cup baking soda
- 1/2 cup citric acid
- 2 tbsps epsom salt
- food coloring or mica powder
- *essential oils
- bath bomb molds or an ice cube tray (used this set)
Here’s How:
Mix 1 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup citric acid, and 2 tbsps epsom salts. in a separate bowl, combine 2 tbsps melted coconut oil, 10-20 drops *essential oils, and 1 tsp water. Mix all ingredients together. Add food coloring or mica powder if desired. Press mixture into molds. If it’s too crumbly, add water, 1 tsp at a time. Mixture should be dry but able to hold shape. Let sit for 6-8 hours and they’re ready to use!
*Be sure to not use “hot” oils such as peppermint, cinnamon bark, thieves, etc. Especially for young skin.
