4TH OF JULY RECAP – 2021

A long overdue pic of Gigi and Papa with the three oldest grandkids to start this post! As you can see, Tilly has been replaced by my parent’s dog Piper as Papa’s favorite and she’s a bit sour about it, lol. Kinda kidding, but not. She’s the sweetest dog and gives zero sass, so I don’t blame him!

Anyways, Is it just me or does the 4th of July seem like yesterday but also forever ago? Why does summer have to go so quickly?!

Thought I’d do a photo dump from our day (per usual) to keep things in chronological order since I am also dying to share the gobs of pics from our (eventful) trip to Lake Roosevelt last week!

This year’s 4th felt familiar with our usual traditions at my parent’s for most of the day, and a little different since our day ended but also a little different since we headed to our friend’s for the evening instead of staying at the lake for fireworks like we usually do. We fishing derby’ed, played yard games, ate hot dogs, drank red gatorade and popsicles, payed in the lake, and then went home to light off fireworks with friends instead of watching at the lake.

The day always kicks off with the fishing derby! Oz won when he was 5 and has his name on a plaque in the Log Cabin Lodge (where Johan and I were married) to prove it. I’m always holding out hope that one of the other kids will join him, but we’re running out of time! ha! Poppy and Griff are the only ones still eligible to compete…. no pressure, but also, make your mama proud!

P.S. – I am probably the most uncompetitive, competitive person you know :)

Fully committed to the red, white, and blue this year! Some of us more than others… note Johan’s flag sash. In any other social setting I’d be slightly mortified, but people go all out for the 4th of July in my parent’s neighborhood so he fit right in!

Firework time at our friends mini farm! These girls have been buddies since they were babies in diapers sharing cheerios, and now they are tweens sharing outfit inspiration and styling smoke bomb pics for the gram. Never quite sure whether to laugh or cry but the obvious choice is honestly both. It’s been a magical ride, watching them grow up!
