YAY! We’ve made it to another post in our weekend wardrobe series! Feels a little weird talking about clothes on MLK Day, but I like to think Dr. King had an appreciation for style (and this article supports it!). We also have a fun video we’ll be posting to IGTV in a little bit if you want to go check it out.
Here’s what I wore over the weekend-ish!
THURSDAY | sweater old from free people (similar with v. good ratings HERE, HERE + HERE), jeans (old but THESE are similar), boots, scrunchie
Poppy picked out my outfit this day so thought it needed to be in this post instead of what I picked out on Friday (which was basically a different version of this outfit)! Shared a little more about my pint sized stylist HERE.
SATURDAY, checkered pants part 1 | gingham pants, chucks, basic black tee, denim jacket (or an oversized version!)
Love these pants more than I was expecting and think they’ll be perfect for spring and summer too — with a tank and sandals. Ordered my usual madewell jeans size and they are a little loose but I prefer that over being on the tighter side.
SUNDAY, checkered pants 1 | gingham pants, loafers (or these… both on sale!), gray boyfriend sweater
So tempted to apologize for the clutter in the background of this pic, but I won’t because I would never want you to feel like you should apologize for normal life stuff. And if you studied Communications in college then you know I kinda inadvertently apologized by not apologizing, lol. It’s so funny how our our minds work. Sometimes makes me want to go back to school!
Not sure if you’ll be able to see it, but the pants have little flecks of color which is so fun… I could see myself pairing them with a larger scale blue or red striped tee or denim top in the near future!
SUNDAY PART 2 | sweatpants (or HERE), sweatshirt (or HERE), sneakers
Changed into my men’s fruit of the loom sweats ($15 for the set! — wearing a medium but also ordered in small — I’m 5’7″ 125lbs for reference) while I worked on OILYAY! designs and cleaning out closets. Since we didn’t have any outings or family plans this weekend, the kids binged on sleepovers and I’m a little nervous for the aftermath today, but hopefully it means early bedtimes for all tonight!
STYLE TIP: Generally speaking, if you are purchasing something that’s cheap but you don’t want it to look cheap, the best color to get it in is black. For two reasons 1. black has a way of looking more sophisticated and put together and 2. the color quality of cheap clothes is usually not the best since the manufacturer isn’t spending a ton of time or money getting the colors right. Of course there are always exceptions!
Love her!!!!! My little sidekick.
Any outfit combos or trends you’d like to see in future posts!?
Are the “style tips” helpful?
