Beach hangs, boat rides, kids in goggles, sandy toes, brunch dates, small towns, tennis rallies, sun kissed selfies, bubbly, game nights, shared meals, live music, dive bars, cocktails to go, waking up to a view, simple crafts, tired kids, and friends… these are a few of my favorite things and we got to check them all off our summer bucket list this last week at Lake Chelan. Lots of pics below! Just remember that there are lots of tears, bickering, and frazzled moments not pictured. Family trips are never without stress and exhaustion no matter how dreamy someone’s pics look 😜🖤
Breakkie at Blueberry Hill Farm – not the best food imo but filling, the kids didn’t complain, and the location was beautiful and kept the kids busy while waiting to eat!
Wapato Point in Manson – where we stayed and loved it because there is so much to do! Tennis/Pickle courts, bikes, paddle boards, kayaks, etc. to rent, playgrounds, beaches, putt-putt, swimming pools, craft kits, a snack shack (pics below), and so much more. It’s just a really good spot to take the kids and close to everything else in Manson and Chelan. Thankful to our friends who grew up going and shared their spot with us.
Boat Rides – Thankful to those same friends for hauling their boat over the mountains and sharing it with us! The weather was a little cooler than we’d all probably prefer, but piling together under blankets was pretty sweet too.
Sun kissed Selfies – You’ll notice a lot of selfies in this post since I took all but the first one on my iPhone, as opposed to our usual pics that Johan mostly takes on the big camera…. which are my fave because he’s so good at it and I appreciate sharing the responsibility for capturing all the mems (usually him on photos and me on videos, editing, and sharing/printing/posting). However, it worked out well this trip and I got plenty of pics and videos without feeling like I was on my phone or computer the whole time (yay). I didn’t have much work to do this week either which probably helped!
Below are pics of the beach and dock right outside our condo.
Downtown Chelan – I love a good small town with fun shops and restaurants. We also managed to find the farmer’s market and live music in the park!
Snack Shack at Wapato – I mean, what is summer vacay without a snack shack? And this one was fully stocked including burgers and shaved ice.
Love planning trips right after school ends so we get quality family time before everyone scatters, but it can be tricky in the PNW where June weather is at best unpredictable and at worst reminiscent of winter, lol. While there were a few rain showers and windy days, we got enough sun for everyones freckles to pop and some good blocks of time where the thermometer read in the 70’s. Even so, I loved every minute of our imperfect trip…. except that we didn’t make it to a single winery. Not sure how we did that, but will have to make up for it next time!
Do you have any trips coming up!?
Also curious what you guys think of the iPhone pics vs. our usual photos!?
xx, Rae
