You gotta love teenagers. They’re quirky, fun, unpredictable, and unapologetic. Pretty sure I look at mine daily and think, “Yep. You’re the coolest.” And then hope that they’re making me cool, by proxy. Anywho, as cool as they are, it can be quite the challenge to find equally cool clothes for them to wear, that are also affordable, appropriate, and well fitting. I know that I’m not the only one who finds this challenging because “how do you find clothes for your older kids!?” is one of the most asked question I get from you! Well, I’ve heard your cry and am sharing our favorite places to find items for teens and tweens, below!
TILLY | denim . sweatshirt
Favorite Places to Shop for Teen/Tween Girls: Nordstrom (denim, sweats, athleisure, shoes, outerwear, etc. – their alteration service is gold if you have a petite teen!), Abercrombie (cute tops, outerwear, dresses/jumpsuits), Athleta (athleisure), Urban Outfitters (everything if the sizing allows), Tillys (mostly accessories and sweats), Nike (shoes and athletic), Target (mostly the wild fable label) thrifting (shop local or try Etsy for vintage sweatshirts and tees)
ESPEN | denim . sweatshirt . shoes
Favorite Places to Shop for Teen/Tween Boys: American Eagle (denim), Nordstrom (hoodies, tees, outerwear, athleisure, sweats, dressy stuff, shoes), J.Crew (basics and dressier stuff), Urban Outfitters (hoodies, tees, flannels, shoes, etc.), Abercrombie (mostly denim), Nike (sweats, tees, athletic, shoes), thrifting (shop local or try Etsy for vintage sweatshirts and tees)
Also want you to know that a poorly timed handstand by a teen, and a flustered parent are not a good combo. This photoshoot ended with a death kick to our camera, that despite having a shaggy rug under it, did not survive hitting the concrete. Oopsi. There was tears, and yelling, and Espen and I left looking at each other wondering if silence or a well-timed joke would be a more effective way to mediate the situation. Anyways, just a reminder that you can love having teens and still get overwhelmed and lose your mind, too. The two are not mutually exclusive.
Hope this “where to shop” guide, was helpful!
Let me know if you’d like to see more teen outfit ideas…
