(CLOSED) Giveaway with Design Mom // Living with Kids Book

Last fall I received an email asking if I would be willing to style a couple kid-friendly home decor spaces for a Design Mom (Gabrielle Blair) book on living with kids. Of course I said yes and then immediately called my favorite person to work with, Stacy, to snap pictures.

Today we’re celebrating our work in print with a giveaway! (keep reading for all the details)

One of my favorite things in the world is to see the people in my life (either real life or online), do awesome things and that is exactly what this book is, awesome. It’s full of useful inspiration and tips and I’m over the moon to have been a tiny part of it.

I first got in touch with Gabby a couple years ago when I shared a living with kids feature of our old house on her blog ( you can see it here) but met her in person for the first time last weekend at her book event in Seattle. It’s always kinda a funny thing to meet people you only know through social media and web sites in person but she was so sweet and cute. Not that I expected anything else.

There are a few more stops on Gabby’s book tour with Pottery Barn Kids where you can make this cute plate pictured above and eat yummy treats… find more info here.

To enter, simply leave a comment HERE telling me what room in your home could currently use a design upgrade. The giveaway closes SATURDAY, MAY 8th at 6am PST and is open to US and Canada only. One winner will be chosen at random and announced later that day on this post. I will also send the winner an email letting them know!

***WINNER — Congrats Abby Hunter***

Good luck!!!

XO . Rae

We’re moving into a new house in two weeks, so EVERY room could use an upgrade! ;) I’m most excited about designing new rooms for my 2-year-old and 5-month-old though.

I love this giveaway! I’ve had my eye on this book. My baby girl’s room definitely needs some lovin’. Her room is a guest room/play room/where we store our winter sweaters room. Yikes! Needing help on that. : )

My boys have shared a room for years and now that they are 10 and 13, it needs to be brought up to speed with their growing needs!

  4. Ange May 6, 2015 at #

We have just moved in to our house and every room would need an upgrade. Especially the living room/ dining, kitchen and basement/playroom and kids bedrooms

  5. Amy Ehmann May 6, 2015 at #

My daughter’s room is stuck in limbo and I can’t decide on anything. Upgrade definitely needed. =)

We are moving over the summer, so, when that happens, all rooms will need an upgrade, but, for now, our living room desperately needs help. We just kind of forget about decorating and have it let it look like a dorm room for way too long…

  7. Cori May 6, 2015 at #

We recently moved into a 1968 built home and our kitchen is stuck still in that era! So an upgrade is definitely in order!

  8. Lori May 6, 2015 at #

We are moving in the next couple months and could definitely use some advice and direction!! I’m excited to do something fun with our boys room and also the kitchen/family room area!!

  9. Rhonda May 6, 2015 at #

I need inspiration and ideas for organizing the stuff in my sons bedroom.

  10. Heather J May 6, 2015 at #

The Living with Kids series is my favorite on her blog. And now the book…I need to get my hands on a copy! Our living room needs some BIG help and a design upgrade.

    My bedroom!

  12. Terra May 6, 2015 at #

I would love to have our bonus room be more kid-friendly and inviting. I feel like most of our rooms are too adult-like and it could definitely be more kid fun!

  13. Teesha May 6, 2015 at #

Our guest room/soon to be baby’s room is in need of a design upgrade for sure! Thanks for the chance to win!

  14. Lori! May 6, 2015 at #

Yay! With another kid on the way, our basement family room could use a facelift. Something light, bright and inviting :]

  15. Krishna May 6, 2015 at #

You would probably think they all need it, but I would say our 2 year old son’s very bare room or the living room/play room (toys everywhere) Walking into the house, you would think it’s a daycare. I always said I wouldn’t be one of those Moms. ha!

  16. La Rae May 6, 2015 at #

My son’s room desperately needs some creative ideas to utilize every vertical and horizontal inch of it’s compact space. :0) *sigh*

We are going to be moving in the next month and a half and that means our month old daughter’s room hasn’t exactly been a focus at our current place. So, her room is first on the list!

We just moved into our new house a couple months ago, and now that we’re settled I’m ready to really make my mark on it. My kitchen is pretty builder-basic, and could you some personalization for sure!

  19. Tiffany G. May 6, 2015 at #

Our playroom is transitioning to a school room since we started homeschooling. I have the main furniture like vintage school desks and bookcases but it definitely needs a design upgrade. I think making it more pleasing to the eye would inspire all of us…at least that’s what I’m hoping=)

  20. Erin May 6, 2015 at #

Our girls’ bathroom is in dire need of love. It is pretty basic with some major subfloor damage that is only making things worse for their adjacent bedrooms.

  21. Jessica May 6, 2015 at #

That book looks awesome! The bedroom could definitely use some design help! There is one large wall that is just overwhelming and I don’t know what to put on it!

  22. Aly May 6, 2015 at #

I am a grandma that needs a good place for grandchildren to play in! I have the toys…need the idea of how to make space for them.

  23. Kathleen May 6, 2015 at #

My guest room could use the most help!

  24. Audrey May 6, 2015 at #

My girls rooms could use an upgrade. We have 4 girls from the foster system. Their spaces were pretty bare when they came. Now that I see their personalities and who they are becoming I really would love them each to have rooms that fit them.

  25. Abby Hunter May 6, 2015 at #

Oh! I can’t wait to see the book!!! I’m moving as soon as we find a house, so it’s hard to say which room will need the most help. I hate my great room furniture and rug though, so we’ll go with that. I have two young kids, and the room looks so granny!

  26. Jill May 6, 2015 at #

My office could use an upgrade

  27. Gretchen May 6, 2015 at #

I love an upgrade in our living room. It just needs to be more functional!

  28. Casey May 6, 2015 at #

I think our master bedroom need some help. It has some cute things but just hasn’t come together all the way.

  29. Jennifer May 6, 2015 at #

I am decluttering like crazy. So some great ideas of how to make each room functional without all the clutter would be so helpful!

  30. Sarah May 6, 2015 at #

I am saving our pennies so that I can update our back porch and bring the living room out. Some things that are on my radar: an outdoor rug from World Market, Target Threshold outdoor furniture, and some DIY shelving and potting station. Oh, and did I mention string lights? Lots of string lights.

  31. erin May 6, 2015 at #

The play room! Our house has an open layout and the toys never ever stay in one room, and seeing the detritus from the living room makes me grumpy.

  32. Sarepta May 6, 2015 at #

Our main living space. It is open concept: living, dining, and kitchen.

  33. Emma May 6, 2015 at #

Our 2 children spend most of their time playing in our downstairs living room. I would love to make that area more kid friendly.

  34. Brianne Talmadge May 6, 2015 at #

My livingroom/dining room could totally use an upgrade!!! Would love to see what’s inside this book!!

  35. Cristian May 6, 2015 at #

My thirteen and fourteen year old boys share one small room that definitely needs a redesign! We are trying to figure out how to create more living space. I could really use some efficient ideas!!

  36. nicole May 6, 2015 at #

With three growing kids, we are desperately in need of re-vamping our “family-catch-all -room.” It’s the messiest jumble in the house & it happens to be where we spend all of our time playing, singing, watching, crafting, home-working, entertaining, etc, etc. Would love to win & be inspired!

  37. kristen May 6, 2015 at #

We’re chasing our dreams by selling our home and moving into a rental in just a few weeks. The space is lovely…except for the blah kitchen with blah linoleum. I can’t wait to get creative with fun knobs and some stained plywood overlay flooring to make this temporary space more “us” in a budget and renter friendly way! Congrats on being featured in this book, btw!

  38. Brittany May 6, 2015 at #

My little boy (7 months) is crawling up a storm! Now that he’s mobile, it seems like the whole house has become his playground! I’d love for our living room to get a design upgrade–both aesthetically and functionally (Ahhh! So many toys! And no pretty baskets to hide them in!).

  39. Laura Hager May 6, 2015 at #

Thanks for the chance to win a giveaway!

My boyfriend and I just recently moved into a new place together. It’s been so fun, but we definitely need design help! I think our living room needs the most help. It’s a small space and barely decorated. It also needs some organization solutions, for stuff like blankets and books. I want it to be relaxing, but functional and pretty!

I’m moving to Seattle for Grad School so looking for tips on a college budget :)

  41. Darnetta May 7, 2015 at #

Our living room really could use some help. It’s used for home school and meals, but we are not sure how to make both those work in one space.

  42. Erin May 7, 2015 at #

I could really use some help with 3 boys in one room, one being a crib. It’s so hard to figure out how to keep little boy toys and big kid stuff all together.

  43. Suzanne May 7, 2015 at #

We have done a lot of work in our home, except in our old and outdated kitchen.

  44. karen May 7, 2015 at #

Our house is three bedroom with loft. Currently not functional or well-used space. Design upgrade would start there!!

  45. Kristine May 7, 2015 at #

Definitely my living room, it is a small and somewhat awkward space!

  46. Jennifer May 7, 2015 at #

Definitely my dining room. It is currently a hodgpodge mess of nothingness.

  47. Ashley Jensen May 7, 2015 at #

Our bathroom needs an update so badly! It’s the only room that hasn’t been renovated in our tiny old house!

  48. Mindy May 8, 2015 at #

Our basement needs finishing! so I could use help with those “rooms to be”

  49. Michelle Weller May 8, 2015 at #

Definitely my home office. It lacks style and function.

  50. Carolina May 9, 2015 at #

My family room or my bedroom! Would love the help!
