Operation, create a linen closet at the end of this short hallway, is in full-swing, and since I can hardly contain my excitement over taming this pile of fluff and fabric, I thought I’d share the process. Here’s how it looks currently :) It’s the first thing you see when you walk downstairs which is kind of a blessing in disguise because it would be way too easy to put off otherwise. My goal is to make it functional, uncluttered, and really cute. At the moment, we don’t plan on adding doors so most things will be stored in bins and baskets. Hoping that will keep me (and the kids) more accountable… A mom can dream!
The nook needs to be able to house linens for one queen bed, one full bed, and two twin beds, plus extra blankets and pillows for sleepovers and movie nights, and all the beach towels. On paper, it doesn’t seem like much, but the pile pictured and existing overflow of bedding in the upstairs linen closet, says otherwise, lol. Safe to say there will be some purging happening.
As for the decorative side of this project, I’m trying to decide between a colorful wallpaper, or a simple hand-painted pattern, am leaning towards using these bins from the container store that will sit on shelves above this rolling cart that I already ordered and will hold all the extra blankets — I think.
If we wind up with extra room for decorative pillows, that would be a bonus!
